FAQ
Q: What is Behavior Change Coaching?
Non-therapeutic wellness coaching, focusing on current problems or circumstances you would like to change. The purpose is to bring your attention to your body connection, inner voice, and any patterns/programs that are not serving you. Once identified, we collaborate to set goals thus empowering you to adjust your perspectives and behaviors to increase self-awareness and intentional behaviors.
Q: How long does it take to see results?
This varies greatly per client, and per their current health. Many people will notice changes (pain reduction, confidence in movement, increased muscle tone, improved endurance) in themselves in about 3 months. Most have reported the people closest to them noticing changes (increased strength, improved posture, body composition) in about 5 months. I recommend a minimum of consistent training (2-3x/week) for 3 months to allow the opportunity for noticeable improvements.
Q: What happens in the fitness assessment?
We meet in person, introduce you to the gym space, discuss medical history and goals motivating you to seek training. Then I'll ask you to perform some casual movements such as walking, squatting, lifting overhead, push-ups, rowing so I can observe any muscular weaknesses or imbalances and get a baseline for designing an appropriate fitness program.
Q: What does a personalized program include?
It is a systematic plan for improving strength and conditioning over a 3 month period, broken up into one month iterations. The baselines observed in the fitness assessment will determine which exercises will be prescribed to correct any muscular imbalances and what variations of the exercises will be most appropriate. The program includes the number of repetitions, sets, and frequency of each exercise so you know exactly what to do on your own.
Q: What populations/complications of clients have shown success in training?
Old car accident injuries, chronic back pain, post-cardiac rehab health, pre-osteoporosis, pre/post surgery, conditioning high school and college athletes, pre-wedding, balance/coordination in elderly, post-physical therapy acute injuries, chronic conditions like PCOS and anemia.
